Our investigations have shown, that in cities with strong changes in topographical elevation the consideration of the topography significantly increases the accuracy! The topography consideration is available for all urban propagation models, especially the Intelligent Ray Tracing (IRT), Standard Ray Tracing (SRT) and Walfish-Ikegami (COST-231) model. This is possible due to a unique implementation by AWE Communications which makes WinProp a leading tool in accurate urban predictions. The topographical data can be imported from many file formats. Multiple converters are available. 2D IRT for urban scenarios -------------------------- To offer a cheaper version for some customers AWE Communications released a 2D Intelligent Ray Tracing (IRT) for urban scenarios. In contrast to the 3D version, the 2D version considers only vertical wedges for the diffractions and only reflections in the horizontal plane. The main focus of the ray-optical 2D IRT are antenna heights below the rooftop level, where waveguiding in street canyons must be considered. Multiple reflections (up to 6) and diffractions (up to two) in arbitrary combinations allow the computation of waveguiding effects even in very long streets. In combination with the COST 213 Walfisch-Ikegami model (multiple diffractions over buildings) the new 2D IRT leads to a high accurate prediction model for a very low price. Consideration of vegetation areas in urban scenarios ---------------------------------------------------- Some of our customers have asked for the impact of vegetation areas such as parks, forests, etc. on the propagation in urban scenarios. Therefore AWE communications has created a new algorithm which allows a very precise consideration of vegation areas in Ray Tracing models (IRT & SRT) as well as in the COST 231 WI model. In a large benchmark and with the comparison to measurements the new algorithms for the consideration of vegetation effetcs were calibrated. Virtual Buildings Concept for urban IRT --------------------------------------- This concept allows it to exclude certain parts of the prediction area from the preprocessing. These parts might be water surfaces (e.g. rivers, lakes) or areas at the border of the databases, where no building information is present and that are therefore of no interest for the planning. The virtual building concept reduces the preprocessing time and especially the size of the database and makes the prediction even faster! New COST-RT Transition Features Improve Accuracy ------------------------------------------------ The COST 231 Walfisch-Ikegami model tends to be too optimistic if a transmitter site is located at the top of a high building. A brand new transition algorithm between the ray tracing models (IRT & SRT) and the COST model takes this fact into account, leading to more precise results if the transition is computed. Several parameters help to adjust the transition model. Accelerated Preprocessing in WallMan ------------------------------------ The preprocessing of urban and indoor databases for the use with the outstanding Intelligent Ray Tracing (IRT) model has been integrated into WallMan, allowing a graphical definition of the parameters. Furthermore, the preprocessing has been optimized, leading to shorter preprocessing times and smaller preprocessed data files! Improved GUI for ProMan and WallMan ----------------------------------- They now include new intuitive menues for the project parameters, allowing the user to create prediction projects even faster with optimized parameters. New Graphical Mouse Tools ------------------------- A lot of new graphical tools have been added to the GUI. For example now broken lines are possible to display values in a cartesian plot. This is very helpful to get the prediction results along measurement routes. ********************************************************************** ********************************************************************** New Evaluation versions ********************************************************************** The new evaluation versions of ProMan, WallMan and AMan are available. Just go to the "Download" section on our web-site http://www.winprop.de. The new evaluation versions already contain the new features mentioned above. Examples are ready for download to show these new features! ********************************************************************** ********************************************************************** New Seminar Concept with Great Success at Customer Sites ********************************************************************** The new WinProp seminars were admitted with great success by our customers. They include scientific background about propagation in hilly, urban, and indoor environments. They also show the concept behind WinProp and introduce the user into the handling of the software package. Detailed seminar documents are also included. Please ask for details if you are interested. ********************************************************************** ********************************************************************** New Scientific Papers related to WinProp ********************************************************************** Many new scientific papers, that were published at international conferences and that are related to WinProp, can be downloaded from our web-site http://www.winprop.de.
