A list describing the new features, modifications and improvements related to WinProp can be obtained from http://www.awe-communications.com/Docs/History2001.pdf Some of the highlights are: Antenna patterns ----------------- Improvement of AMan including the interpolation of 2D patterns. The 2D patterns are now interpolated before the 2x2D => 3D interpolation is started. This leads to higher accuracy for the 3D patterns. Two different horizontal antenna orientations in ProMan are now possible: 1. East: 0°, North 90°, West 180°, South 270° 2. North 0°, East: 90°, South 180°, West 270° Handling of building databases (WallMan) ---------------------------------------- WallMan was accelerated to handle larger databases with many objects (walls/buildings). The display is now much faster and allows convenient modifications of databases even for very large databases. Improvement of WallMan's user interface with more toolbars and tools to simplify the generation and modification of databases. Error messages in WallMan with more detailed information (object numbers...). Multi-step ReDo and UnDo functions. Log-Files (and progressbar-info-box) during the preprocessing with more information about the preprocessed data. Computation time ----------------- The computation time of all urban models (COST, SRT, IRT) was accelerated. The new preprocessing of IRT takes only 50-75% of the time of the former preprocessing. COST preprocessing was extended to accelerate the predictions in ProMan. Prediction times of urban propagation models in ProMan are significantly faster (COST down to only 10% of the old computation times and IRT down to 50% of the former values). This allows fast predictions even in large urban areas. Interfaces of ProMan --------------------- ASCII Interface between ProMan and MS Excel (registered trademark of Microsoft Corp.) available to transfer prediction results to further processing in MS Excel or other spreadsheet applications. New ASCII interface to export/import project settings (transmitter locations and antenna parameters) to improve interaction between WinProp and other RNP software packages. User Interface of ProMan ------------------------- Project definition in ProMan has become more convenient and fault-tolerant, so that users will easily find their way. E.g. the prediction area for urban models is now checked during the definition of the parameters in ProMan. So the area cannot be defined (by mouse or by coordinates) larger than the preprocessed area. Height and resolution are always set on appropriate values (as defined in the preprocessing). => The probability of errors in the project is now very small - even for users working with WinProp for the very first time. Handling of auto-scaling and default scales improved for a better visualization. Extensions ----------- For urban scenarios two different 2x2D IRT models (horizontal and vertical plane) are now additionally available - reducing preprocessing time and file size after preprocessing (compared to 3D IRT). Output of delay spread, angular spread (MS and/or BTS) and angle of arrival are now possible with the ray-optical propagation models. ________________________________________________________________________ Christmas ________________________________________________________________________ The Christmas edition of the WinProp newsletter includes a *.jpg picture in the attachment. The figure shows the current on an antenna array. The "trees" are monopole antennas on a conducting surface and they are used as antenna array for a smart antenna. The smart antenna was built to validate the new "angle of arrival" and "angular spread" features in the new WinProp release. To close this newsletter, we would like to thank all our customers for the good collaboration. We also really appreciated all the feedback that helps to improve AWE's software products. We wish you and your family Merry Christmas and a Happy & Successful New year Best regards, AWE's WinProp Team. ________________________________________________________________________ Unsubscription ________________________________________________________________________ This newsletter is not SPAM-Mail.
