Introduction
The
WallMan software offers a convenient facility to generate and edit
urban and indoor building databases. Especially the 3D view of the
building data helps to detect errors in the database. Several import
filters for standard GIS (MapInfo, Arcview,..) CAD (DXF, Shapefile,...)
and pixel formats (Bitmaps,...) are available.

Definition
of databases
Databases
can be devided in urban and indoor databases. These two
database types differ in some points:
Urban Databases
Indoor Databases

Polygonal
cylinders
Polygonal
planar objects
Arbitrary
number of corners
Arbitrary

Flat
rooftop (uniform height of building)
All
corners are in one plane (planar)
Individual
characterization of material properties for each building
Individual
characterization of material properties for each wall
Vegetation
blocks (parks and trees) also defined as polygonal cylinder
Definition
of subdivisions (doors, windows,...) with different material
properties possible
Additional
consideration of topography possible
Shape
around building automatically defined as polygonal cylinder to
include indoor databases into urban databases
Enter
buildings in 2D display (top view in x-y plane)
Enter
buildings in three different 2D displays (x-y, y-z and x-z-planes)
