Applications of WinProp in the time variant scenarios

WinProp's time variant module contains a fast and accurate ray optical prediction model which can be used for numerous investigations on the radio channel characterization in time variant scenarios. Time variance can for example be found in the road or railway traffic. Therfore many of the applications of the time variant module are related to vehicles.

Some typical applications are:

Car-2-Infrastructure radio channel analysis The german car manufacturer Audi uses WinProp for the investigation of the time variant radio channel in Car-2-Infrastructure networks. Such networks can be found in the domain of racing. During a race the racing cars continuously exchange information ("telemetry") with a base station located in the pits.   The picture on the right shows the Le Mans racing circuit with some of the computed propagation paths. RADAR channel simulations The research and development department of a car manufacturer supplier from Germany selected WinProp Time Variant for the development of their Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system. This system is based on FMCW radar technology at 77.5 GHz.   WinProp is included in an environment simulator and predicts spatial channel impulse responses based on the current traffic situation. Wireless LAN in metro station A customer uses WinProp to predict the coverage for WLAN hot spots in metro stations. The vector building databases of the stations were created with the WallMan tool and time variant behavior was added to obtain real conditions with moving trains.
