World Trade Center (WTC) Transportation Hub

Applications of WinProp

WinProp and the World Trade Center

Parsons selected WinProp to plan the wireless infrastructure (W-LAN 802.11 a/b/g as well as cellular networks) of the World Trade Center (WTC) transportation hub in Lower Manhattan, New York (NY, USA).

Here the high accuracy of the deterministic indoor and urban propagation models of WinProp as well as their short computation times are very important because the planning is done without any calibration measurements (as the hub is not built yet).

So the propagation models are used without any manual tuning - this can only be achieved with deterministic models relying only on the physical description of the scenario.

WTC Transportation Hub

Designed as a freestanding structure of glass and steel and situated within a landscaped plaza the new, permanent transportation hub for Lower Manhattan will provide service for the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) commuter trains, New York city subway trains (1/9, E and N/R lines) and a potential rail link to JFK International Airport, was well as seamless, indoor pedestrian access to the World Financial Center, adjacent buildings, and the propsed new Fulton Street Transit Center.
