Individual Software Development for Customers


AWE Communications offers the development of software tools to the wireless industry. Professional engineers of AWE Communications support their customers in the development of new software modules for propagation modeling and radio network planning. 

We contribute our expertise and our software platforms. You have the requirements (and perhaps already some specifications). Together in a R&D project, we develop the tools to solve the problems.

Many partners from industry and from research centers are working in close cooperation with AWE Communications.

Obviously, the focus of the developments should be in the area of wireless communications. Some examples of former projects are:

  • link level simulators for 3G and B3G wireless systems (developed in Matlab) 
  • system level simulators (developed in C/C++ as WinProp extensions or as modules (plug-ins) for the tools of the customer)
  • GUIs as well as open platforms for the visualization of prediction data and databases. 
  • integration of customer specific DLLs into WinProp. (DLLs to compute relevant data in a wireless network). 
  • propagation libraries (delivered as dlls for the tool of the customer)

Public funded Research Projects

Besides these commercial R&D contracts, AWE Communications is also involved in different public funded R&D projects (European level and national level).

Network Planning / Propagation 
Very often companies need external consultants for their tasks related to network planning or propagation analysis.
AWE Communications offers these services and AWE's experts will join the team of the customer to solve the problems.

AWE assists established radio network planning companies as well as companies who have no technical background and need therefore full support.
The experts of AWE work either with  WinProp or with the software products of the customer. The applications include  network simulations as well as propagation modeling.

Some typical examples are:
  • planning of indoor coverage for a conference center
  • planning of a W-LAN Network in an office building
  • planning of radio networks (links) for public authorities (e.g. police,...)  
  • analysis of alternative network layouts 
  • studies related to the exposure to electromagnetic radiation (with respect to environmental aspects, EMC, health issues,...)
  • ....

If persons or national authorities are not sure, if they get the appropriate information from network operators, they can contact AWE Communications to make a study to validate technical alternatives or enhanced solutions.

This is very often requested especially in the area of electromagnetic exposure where external consultants are asked to provide alternatives.

AWE Communications made such a study for example for the city of Attendorn in Germany. Here different topologies for the 3G network were compared to find the solution with the smallest electromagnetic exposure.
