Reiner Hoppe received the Dipl.-Ing. and the Dr.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Stuttgart (Germany) in 1997 and 2002, respectively.

In his PhD thesis he developed an accelerated ray-optical wave propagation model for the prediction of the mobile radio channel as well as a dynamic system simulator for WCDMA radio networks.

After graduating he joined AWE Communications where he has been working as R&D Engineer on propagation models and radio network planning tools.
He is additionally responsible for the satellite domain within AWE Communications which includes the development of planning tools for satellite communication networks (
broadcasting systems (e.g. DVB-SH) and/or navigation systems).

His main research interests include
deterministic propagation modeling incl. terrestrial and satellite wave propagation models and radio network planning especially within urban and indoor scenarios. With his strong background and loog experience in propagation modeling and radio network planning he is the ideal project leader of the public funded SIMPLON project.
